The First TOP CAMP
Olympic contestants, world champions as well as Czech sports talents and other famous people met at the first three-day TOP CAMP in Hotel Imperial Karlovy Vary at the beginning of May. The snowboarder Eva Samková, speed skater Martina Sáblíková, biathlete Gabriela Koukalová, biker Jaroslav Kulhavý and figure skater Michal Březina were among them this time. They had the opportunity to test the renowned local spa treatment, taste the special dishes made by chefs who have even cooked for presidents, and enjoy the luxury accommodation.
“It was great. We usually don't meet the other sportspeople throughout the year and we also met the younger ones here. We want to be a good team in Korea just like we were in Rio, and this meeting definitely helped. The three days were intense. I am full of experiences,” said the Olympic snowboard cross winner Eva Samková.
The figure skater Michal Březina added: “It was nice for us to meet outside the field and talk about something else than our sports, to establish normal human relationships.” Gabriela Koukalová agreed: “I really enjoyed the days in Karlovy Vary. People doing all the Olympic sports got together here and we were all on the same wavelength. And that was very pleasant.”
The spa programme was enhanced by lectures given by Pavel Kolář and Jiří Neumann, the main physician of the Olympic Team, focused on medicine, and a lecture given by Jan Mühlfeit, a respected mentor, on mental preparation.
